Yes It is an excellent airplane, The Designer used a K&B 40, I have the planes and foam cores and stab-elev here for it. It needs a strong 40 engine

Hi,
The Starion is a pretty interesting plane, and it flies very well. I flew it in competitions for a few years.

I used an OS 25 fp in mine and flew it on 60’ lines, but because of the plane’s small size people often commented that it looked like it was flying too fast. It never seemed like a problem to me – the plane can do amazing square corners – but sometime soon I’ll give it another go with some shorter lines and a slower engine run.

If I were to build another one I would definitely not use the 1/8 inch ply doublers shown on the plan. My plane turned out nose heavy and so long as you don’t use a Fox (don't use a fox!) such thick doublers are massive overkill.

My dad and I were talking about this plane just the other day, and he thought that it would probably make an amazing model for a 2.5cc engine. I think he’s having fantasies of trying to win the Australian nats with one of our old OS 15 fps.

The picture is of me with my Starion in 2005. I can't believe it was so long ago!
